After gaining his license to practice medicine from Damascus University, Ghassan Assaf went on to carry out his residency in Paediatrics at the university's Hospital of Children. Throughout the 4-year program, he became learned in all aspects of Paediatric medicine, including intensive care, endocrinology, neurology, infectious disease, haematology, and oncology, amongst others. The Paediatric Specialist has since had over 15 years of experience working in children's medicine, developing further skills in consultations, patient care, vaccine administration, and the diagnosis and treatment of general disease. For the past 10 years, Ghassan has taken an interest in mobility problems, particularly in children, caused by the likes of Cerebral Palsy, neurological and orthopaedic troubles, and burn injuries. Throughout his training and experience, he has become a specialist in numerous forms of rehabilitation in the process, with a number of research publications under his belt.

Over his employment history, which includes stints at Bullion Paediatrics and Rehabilitation Hospital and the Doha Al-Hayat Medical Centre, Ghassan has amassed exceptional informatics skills, including several programming languages, which has led to the development of his own applications. Along with programs to export important patient data, he has developed vision test applications, including a program for ocular movement rehabilitation in children with Cerebral Palsy, which was tested in the Raymond Poincare University Hospital.

Like many of his colleagues, Ghassan speaks several languages – English, French and his native Arabic – and is a regular attendant of conferences and workshops to further expand his knowledge.

After completion of graduation from Damascus university, faculty of medicine in 2000 he went to Damascus hospital (Ministry of health) for specialization in emergency medicine. After having done specialization he joined DAR AL SHIFA in 2005 as an emergency medicine specialist and since 2009 assigned duties of emergency department head till 2014.

Dr. Salahuddin is Arab & European Boards-certified Otolaryngologist with Canadian Fellowship-certified endoscopic nose, sinus, and skull base surgeon. He has 17 years experience in general ear, throat, nose, and head & neck diseases and surgeries with extensive experience in managing acute and chronic sinusitis with endoscopic computer assisted sinus surgery.

He received his Medical Doctorate (MD) from the University of Baghdad, then completed his Otolaryngology Residency Program within the Arab Board & European Board ORL-HNS and Fellowship in advanced Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base from St Paul Hospital, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. In 2006, he became member of the Royal College of Surgeons in UK & Ireland.
He worked as Attending Physician at Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha,Qatar, and speaks fluently English & Arabic.

Dr. Ertan graduated from the University of Saarland's Medical School in 1994 and quickly went on to gain experience in her specialist field, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology. Following a few internships, she went on to gain clinical experience in her chosen field of medicine, taking private practice positions as a Supportive Specialist in OB & GYN. Dr. Ertan boosted her career and experience with the opening of her own private practice in Landstuhl, Germany, where she worked from 2001 to 2007. She then moved to Cologne, Germany, where she once again opened her own practice with a colleague, which specialized in Preventative Medicine, Endocrinology, and OB & GYN.

Before joining West Bay Medicare, Dr. Ertan spent four years in an Independent Private Practice for OB & GYN, Holistic Medicine, and Coping Strategies for Stress, broadening her fields of expertise. She contributes annually to several workshops, including the annual Conference on Allergy and Clinical Immunology held in France. Since graduating in 2007 with an MD from the National Medical University in Kiev, Inna Gaponko has dedicated herself to specializing in Dermatology. She received her specialist training at the Bucovinian Medical Academy and followed this up with a Diploma in Practical Dermatology and an MSc in Clinical Dermatology from Cardiff Medical University. Her work history has included Dermatologist positions at numerous prestigious clinics, including most recently the Al Wehda Medical Centre, before joining the team of doctors at West Bay Medicare.

Through her ten years of experience as a Dermatologist, she has amassed an extensive knowledge of Aesthetics, such as fillers, laser treatment, injectables, and dermabrasion treatments. As new treatments, techniques and diagnostic procedures are developed, Dr. Gaponko will attend the relevant conferences to ensure she is delivering the correct care to her patients. Dr. Naqiyaa Khandwawala completed her BDS in 2013 from MUHS, India. After completion of her BDS she pursued her Masters in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. Dr Hajer TURKI is a consultant in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy. Graduated from both faculties of Medicine of Tunis and Paris since 2010. She worked in France for 04 years before going back to Tunisia where she opened her own centre in Sousse. Over her last 11 years of experience, she improved her skills in the diagnosis and treatment of the digestive tract diseases (oesophagus, stomach, colon, liver, gallbladder, pancreas).

Dr. Aboulwafa has served in the General Surgery department of Hamad Hospital for 24 years. His last post was in the capacity of “Senior Consultant of General Surgery” at Alwakra hospital. Dr. Rana Alasaad joined the faculty of medicine at Damascus University in 2006 and graduated in 2012 with an excellent degree. She was trained at Naser Aldeen Gastroenterology Medical Center in 2013 and gained experience in managing common liver and gastrointestinal diseases.

In 2014, she started a residency training program in the Internal Medicine Department at Damascus University Teaching Hospitals wherein she completed two years of training in variable divisions of Internal Medicine including emergency and Intensive Care Units (ICUs). She continued her postgraduate studies in the Endocrinology and Metabolism Department at Damascus University Teaching Hospitals between 2016 and 2019.

Dr. Rana obtained her Master Degree in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism in 2019 from Damascus University with an excellent degree. Afterward, she got the Board Certificate in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism from the Syrian Commission for Medical Specialties (SCMS).

During her practice, Dr. Rana gained experience in managing wide spectrum of endocrinological conditions including the management of diabetes and its acute and chronic complications, thyroid gland disorders and tumors, lipid and metabolic disorders, and hypertension management. In addition to performing the thyroid gland echography with ultrasound-guided thyroid fine needle aspiration (FNAc).

After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in Tishreen University on 1999, Dr. Laurea Alekkdeh started her residency in Paediatrics at the University's Hospital of Children in Damascus, where she had a good experience in all fields of children diseases for 4 years. She got the Arab Board Certificate of Medical Specializations in Paediatrics in 2004 then went for an advanced experience in France especially in the paediatric respiratory diseases and got the “Attestation of Specialized Training” (AFSA) in Paediatrics from the University of Clermont Ferrand.

When coming back to Syria she started her career in her private clinic and in the Ministry of Health in a primary health care centre. She was also involved in the program of breastfeeding and infant nutrition, where she worked with International Health Organizations and the Ministry of Health.

Dr. Sara Hawjel obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Ajman University of Science & Technology, UAE in 2017 and completed her Master of Science in restorative dentistry in 2022.

She is a Restorative Dentist with extensive experience in treating and diagnosing complex dental problems and is well versed in doing various restorative treatments including bridges, veneers and direct-indirect restorations.
